The Path of Persistence

The path we take to fulfill our vision isn't always a straight one. Many times there are unexpected twists and turns, but if we continue to push forward, despite feeling like we are walking in circles at times, we will eventually reach our destination.

Things aren't going the way I planned. I thought when I left my full-time job to pursue my full-time vision, that things would unfold before me and just make sense. I have quickly learned, that's not the case. My steps have been twisted, some broken, some confusing, and some simply seem to be missing. I have faced great accomplishments and even greater rejections. To say the least, this journey has been frustrating.

The good news is, I'm still eating, my bills are paid, my family is content, and I am still my own boss. YEAR ONE SURVIVOR.

The bad news? I'm still relatively unknown in the comic book world.

Truthfully, I've been so busy maintaining an income to support my family that finding time to sit in the studio and work on my own comics has been difficult.

I shouldn't complain. Financially, the work I have been doing has been amazing. I have begun painting wall murals and doing styrofoam art, specializing in day cares, kid's church, and children's rooms. I'm really good at it, and it pays very well.

But my heart belongs to comics.

Despite my success at owning my own business, I still wrestle with the feeling of being unfulfilled. I know that ultimately, my path will lead me where I want to go. I know that because I have my rudder hard-fixed on that destination. Even so, the journey seems unending and my travels are taxing.

So, the path to your vision may not look like you want it to. It might not take you in the exact direction you think. However, keep pushing. Keep working. Keep redirecting your focus back to the goal. Don't give up. Don't get wrapped up in the steps. Focus on your One Thing. Your Vision, Your Purpose. I firmly believe that the reward will be worth the journey.
